Action

You are probably an active person, or maybe you want to be more active and need the right space to inspire you. To achieve movement, implement the diagonal line in many different ways—from the sloping silhouette of a bed board, chair, or design object, to a virtual line created by the placement of furniture or pictures on the wall. Mix and match prints, textures, and materials to create movement, and repeat design elements for a rhythm that will make you feel comfortable.

Security

This suggests you may have a tendency to seek stability and protection in your daily life, either within yourself or in what you offer those around you. You probably prefer the predictable to the unknown and may feel somewhat imbalanced in situations that present uncertainty. To achieve a sense of Home Being, frame each functional area in your home using flooring, full or half-walls, ceiling molding or pieces of furniture. Use a palette of earth tones ranging from browns to oranges, yellows, whites, blacks, and creams, and incorporate materials that are earthy and grounding, such as stone tiling and ceramic accessories.

Elegance

This no doubt means you have respect for good manners, fine quality, and tradition. Elegance is about achieving a complete look with a classical structure, such as a well-defined foyer with all of the traditional furnishings arranged exactly as we expect them to be. Use high-quality wood, rich upholstery, and materials that have a sparkle of gold and silver, and stay away from design that is surprising or controversial.

Joy

That means either you’ve been blessed with a joyful nature or are looking to incorporate more joy into your daily life. Whatever the case, a joyful setting will help enhance your wellbeing and express or attract the lightness you desire. Natural sunlight or warm artificial lighting is important, and so is a mix of styles, shapes, colors. Feel free to add a touch of humor and fun in your art and accessories. Instead of a structured arrangement, feel free to cultivate your personal style and even introduce some deliberate untidiness, if it suits you.

Space

You likely appreciate feeling unbound in your work and personal life, and you have a strong appreciation for the freedom to do as you believe is right. It is no surprise that your favorite views are those of endless horizons: the sea, an open meadow, or the desert for example. To achieve a sense of space in your home, use light colors and clean design with an emphasis on wide, rectangular spaces. Furniture with tall thin legs, which allow air to float under and around them, is another way to create spaciousness.

Softness

You are probably drawn to spaces that are warm and embracing—either as a reflection of your own personal qualities or perhaps to balance out other aspects of your life. Whatever the reason, home for you is a place of comfort, a feeling that is achieved through the use of soft edges, round amorphic shapes, soft natural materials, and maybe a bit of intentional disorder or wear & tear. Textiles are a great way to incorporate softness—try adding a rug, curtain or pillows for a quick and simple transformation of your space.

Control

This suggests that like to be in the driver’s seat, to know all the details before making a decision, or perhaps you are just drawn to those can take charge of a situation. Regardless of which, a controlled environment will increase your level of comfort and Home Being. How is this achieved? By designing a space where everything is seen and heard—no hidden nooks and nothing hiding in the dark. Seating areas should never be placed their back toward an entrance, and the path leading to your front door ought to be visible through a kitchen or living room window.

Growth

You are probably drawn to the pursuit of progress and evolution, and you might even feel they are integral to your being. Growth is expressed in the endless hunt for improvement and your desire to achieve the heights of success in your personal and professional life. As such, high ceilings and vertical spaces make you feel at home. Choose long, narrow vertical shapes in your design, consider incorporating wood in various design elements and botanical images, and fill your space with plantlife. Shades of green are also a way to create a sense of growth in your home.

Spirituality

Let us guess—intuition is a dominant factor in your daily being. Whether you navigate through life using your internal compass, or you would like to add more spirituality to your everyday life, this Design Personality will create an atmosphere of uplifting energy in your surroundings. Pay attention to the amount and color of light in your space; light adds a sense of spirituality, but it shouldn’t be overwhelming. Try to avoid clutter, and choose decor elements that mean something personal to you. Use mostly whites with touches of purple, sky blue, and soft sunshine yellow.

Touch

You may be among the lucky ones who retains the wonderful childlike desire to explore through feel. Touch is about feeling a connection to material and using it to evoke emotions, trigger the imagination, and create a sense of relaxation and comfort. Natural materials in all their various textures and forms are fundamental to this Design Personality, with every surface and point of contact given full consideration.

Flow

You might be a spontaneous, easy-going person, or perhaps would like to become one. Most likely, you enjoy the company of others and seek out friends who aren’t overly fussy. To flow comfortably, try to leave space around your furniture wherever possible. Incorporate glass in your interior design and home decor, and choose a color palette inspired by the colors of the ocean, from light transparent colors to shiny black or deep blue.

Power

You probably have a strong sense of self, and, for the most part, you don’t need the presence or approval of others to feel complete. You’re attracted to bold design and pieces that make a statement. Choose one design style and stick to it, and avoid clutter created by too many unrelated objects. Use materials that have a strong presence, either in texture or color (or both).
